Never thought I’d be sitting here preparing to stand in front of a crowd and tell my recovery story — the good, the bad, the ugly, and everything I’ve learned along the way.
Tomorrow I was asked to be a guest speaker at Baywood’s Recovery End-of-Summer BBQ, surrounded by people in recovery, their families, and the people who help make recovery possible.
I’m nervous — public speaking is definitely NOT my thing 😂 — but I also know this is exactly why I started sharing my journey in the first place.
If one person hears something in my story that gives them a little hope, reminds them they aren’t alone, or makes them believe their life can look completely different a year from now, then every uncomfortable second will be worth it.
Recovery gave me my life back. Now I want to use that life to help somebody else.
One day at a time. One story at a time. ❤️
Tomorrow… I guess we find out if I can tell my whole story without crying, swearing, or forgetting what I was talking about. 😂🙏
Here goes nothing. ❤️
